Mission Focus on Saipan

(This Video shares some of the greatest moments and memories that Brittany and Mark made while leading Young Life in the Mid-Columbia Area of Washington State) 

How to pray for our Local Vision:

Pray that God will direct a group of adults to join the YL committee that will pray, promote, participate and help pay for Saipan Young Life.

Pray for a long term community leader to step up as Committee Chairperson

Pray for a committee treasurer

Pray for a local fundraising banquet for early winter 2009

Pray for 9 clubs to take place in the 2009-2010 school year

Pray for volunteer leaders in public schools (Hopwood and ChaCha Jr. High schools and 6th graders in PSS elementary schools)

Pray for administration of public schools to be supportive of contact work and volunteer leaders

Pray for 200 club cards by May 2010 (different students who attended at least one club)

Pray for 500 students by name (Our volunteer leader's combined network will know 500 students on island)

Pray for 5 kids to go to off island to camp for Summer 2010

 

First Introduction/Information Meeting!

All Praise Be to God!

Brittany and I hosted our first Saipan YL meeting at The Aquarius Beach Tower this week to share the mission of Young Life and the vision we have for reaching teens on the island of Saipan. God brought 12 awesome community members to the meeting and all 12 responded to wanting to help Saipan YL on some level. At the end of the meeting, we handed out response cards asking the following questions:

-I am willing to learn more about the role of committee

-I am willing to learn more about the role of a volunteer leader.

-I am willing to learn more about being a friend of Young Life

-I feel that I need to pray before I make any decisions

-I do not feel led to contribute to Young Life at this time.

The responses blew us away!

9 of the 12 guests are interested in committee, 8/12 are interested in being a volunteer leader, 7/12 are interested in being a friend of Young Life!

What a blessing to see God place compassion for reaching youth on all 12 of the friends that attended! We are blessed and excited to take the next step of pursuing more adults on island and meeting together as a YL team. Please continue to pray for more people!

I want to thank all of you reading this that prayed for our meeting. I also want to thank Joel for helping with the video, Adina for helping us with the room, and Jen for helping us plan the night! Without your help it wouldn't have been a success!

Goon Goes to Saipan!

Young Life uses characters or a "Program" to lead games and activities. To build excitement with the program character at meetings, often times the characters come into the room with a theme song or in this case, an entrance video... I hope you enjoy!

It's official! We are now an area in Internation Young Life! With that settled, it is time to dig in and start searching for people chosen by God to help out in this amazing ministry! So with that, we have our first official meeting:
